A magical story. A one eyed, one eared Arab shepherd lives reclusively in a ravine rumoured to be inhabited by djinn's. Into the ravine comes the last pregnant survivor of an exquisite species of gazelle, already presumed extinct

This book could make a classic animation film with certain adaptions. The metephoric differences between Jacob and Ishmael, represented by the two boys, are very clear - yet they become good friends, in fact ritualistic blood brothers.
